 The purpose of the "Theotokos" Foundation is to provide help to children with learning and developmental difficulties and to offer them opportunities to learn how to communicate, to function with adequacy in their everyday life, to take care of themselves and to be able to work, so as to become independent and active adults.
In the 37 years of its operation "Theotokos" has offered its services to about 5.000 children and adolescents. Most of them are now adults who live among us, work and participate in all aspects οf everyday life. These persons are the best proof of the usefulness of foundations like 'Theotokos'. The "Theotokos" Foundation is a non-profit Organization. It was founded by the late Maria Α. Papagos who was α devoted President warmly supported by α Board of Directors which incorporated her aspirations and continues to do so. It has been financially supported by the Greek Government and Private Organizations, as well as by many generous Private Donors, large and small alike. Experienced staff has, with enthusiasm and knowledge, developed and applied innovative projects aiming to the improvement of the children, while cultivating α warm atmosphere of acceptance which promotes emotional maturity. The "Theotokos" Foundation is administrated by a 9-member Administration Council, presided by Ms Domini Sarris. Since 1964, "Theotokos" is continuously improving by developing its Services and Projects, introducing new teaching methods and adopting realistic goals which always take into account the children's needs, for their successful adaptation to Social and Professional life. For its important work, "Theotokos" has been awarded two significant distinctions:
