The "Metis" programme

The "Metis" programme is addressed to infants that exhibit deficiencies in various developmental areas.

The aim of the programme is the early intervention and the suitable treatment of the children so as to achieve a smoother passage to the educational mileau. We aim at a quality programme with a small infants to staff ratio.

Children that are eligible: 2.5 to 4.5 years old with mild deficiencies.

With difficulties in:

  • The perception of the environment.
  • The congitive processing and organisation of thought.
  • In speech comprehension and expression.
  • In mastering everyday skils.
  • In muscle coordination.
  • In general maturation.

Realization takes place through:

  • Part or full time programmes or the infants.
  • Cooperation with parents in applying the programmes at home.
  • Seminars aiming at parent training.
  • Counselling of parents.

The programme is manned by:

  • Special infant school teachers and educators
  • Psychologist
  • Speech therapist
  • Work therapist
  • Child psychiatrist
  • Neurologist

The programme aims at:

  • Improvement of attention and meaningful contact.
  • Improvement of interpersonal communication.
  • Improvement of everyday skills.
  • Development of thought and logical understanding of the
  • nvironment.
  • Developemnt of muscle control in relation to playing and learning.
  • Improvement of perception of emotions and ideas.
  • Engaging infants in producting and recreational activities in a quality environment.

The programme is addressed to residents of Attiki and especially those residing in the West Athens area. The premises are within the "Theotokos" grounds.
